Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and dependable Phlebotomist / Clinical Research Assistant to join our Fort Wayne research team. Position Summary The Phlebotomist / Clinical Research Assistant will support clinical trial activities under the direction of the Principal Investigator, Clinical Research Coordinators, and site leadership. The ideal candidate will have strong phlebotomy skills, excellent attention to detail, a patient-focused approach, and an interest in learning clinical research operations. Key Responsibilities Perform venipuncture and blood collection for clinical trial participants. Collect, process, centrifuge, package, store, and prepare laboratory specimens for shipment according to study-specific requirements. Obtain and document vital signs, height, weight, and other protocol-required measurements. Assist Clinical Research Coordinators with participant visits and study procedures. Prepare examination and research rooms before participant visits. Assist with scheduling, participant communication, and visit preparation. Maintain accurate and timely study documentation. Assist with data entry into clinical research systems and electronic databases. Maintain laboratory supplies, study kits, and specimen-processing areas. Assist with investigational study materials and research inventory as permitted by training and delegation. Review study documents for completeness and help maintain organized regulatory and source documentation. Follow study protocols, site standard operating procedures, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), HIPAA, and applicable regulatory requirements. Communicate promptly with research coordinators and investigators regarding participant concerns, abnormal findings, or study-related issues. Assist with additional clinical research and site operational activities as needed.

Qualifications Required:

High school diploma or equivalent. Prior phlebotomy experience with demonstrated competency in venipuncture. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal and patient-service skills. Ability to follow detailed written procedures and study protocols. Comfortable using computers and learning electronic clinical research systems. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Dependable, professional, and able to maintain patient confidentiality.

Preferred:

Phlebotomy certification, Medical Assistant certification, or other relevant healthcare credential. Previous experience in a physician office, hospital, laboratory, clinical research site, or similar healthcare environment. Experience processing and shipping biological specimens. Familiarity with clinical trials, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), or electronic medical records. BLS/CPR certification. Clinical research experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train a strong candidate with excellent phlebotomy skills, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in clinical research.
