Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. This vital role involves performing accurate specimen collection, processing, and handling to support diagnostic testing and patient care. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in laboratory procedures, excellent patient service abilities, and a thorough understanding of medical terminology and anatomy. This paid position offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality clinical laboratory work in a dynamic healthcare environment, ensuring precise data entry and adherence to safety protocols. Duties Collect blood samples and other specimens from patients using venipuncture, capillary puncture, or other approved techniques while maintaining aseptic procedures. Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and storage according to established protocols. Assist with processing and analyzing laboratory specimens, including centrifugation, aliquoting, and documentation. Maintain accurate records of patient information, specimen details, and test results within electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems. Monitor patient vital signs when necessary and provide compassionate patient care during specimen collection procedures. Follow strict safety guidelines, including heavy lifting protocols and infection control practices such as aseptic technique. Support laboratory operations by managing inventory of supplies, performing data entry tasks, and ensuring compliance with health regulations. Skills Proficiency in laboratory procedures and techniques related to specimen collection and processing. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to clinical laboratory work. Experience with venipuncture (blood sampling), phlebotomy, and specimen handling in hospital or clinical settings. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for data entry and record keeping. Excellent patient service skills with the ability to care for diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatrics. Knowledge of basic life support (BLS) certification such as CPR is preferred. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Pay:
$17.00 - $28.54 per hour
