Job Description

NEEDED:
Phlebotomist
LOCATION
3301 Leestown Rd. Lexington, KY 40511
SCHEDULE:
30 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 1:30 PM
QUALIFICATIONS
US Citizen Must have a phlebotomy certificate through a certified training program. Must have 6 months experience as a phlebotomist
JOB DUTIES
Assist the Laboratory with patient flow during blood draws, retrieving reference laboratory reports, answering laboratory phone to assist providers with questions, scanning laboratory results in the Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR) and other day to day laboratory duties. Organize, schedule, and perform laboratory specimen collection, point-of-care testing and process specimens within the Health Service Unit, to include inpatient and outpatient. Prepare and ensure specimens are packed and transported according to the law, Reference Lab requirements and per Health Services Unit Laboratory Procedures. Ensure that lab requests are completed properly and all reports are returned from the reference lab, provider notified, log results in as received, follow up appropriately, and file results in lab and medical record. Acquire and maintain knowledge of the Health Services Manual and Unit Procedures necessary to accomplish the mission described herein. Assist the Laboratory in the coordination of BOP and Contract Reference Lab contact, CLIA re-certification, maintenance of equipment, and notification of needed supplies. Computer literacy is expected as the laboratory uses multiple computer programs to perform daily duties.
