Temporary contract Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist for a 12-week contract assignment at Brookside Community Health Center in Jamaica Plain. This position supports a smaller outpatient location within the Mass General Brigham health system. The Phlebotomist will perform venipuncture and capillary collections, accurately label and prepare specimens, maintain proper specimen integrity, and provide a professional and comfortable experience for patients. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently with a diverse patient population. Responsibilities Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections Confirm patient identity using two approved identifiers Explain collection procedures and help patients feel comfortable Accurately label, process, store, and transport specimens Collect blood, urine, and other specimens as directed Maintain specimen integrity and follow chain-of-custody procedures Document collections using electronic medical record and laboratory systems Prioritize STAT and time-sensitive collections appropriately Follow infection-control, OSHA, PPE, and sharps-disposal requirements Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked collection area Communicate with providers, nursing staff, and laboratory personnel Perform additional duties assigned by the Phlebotomy Supervisor or Lead Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Phlebotomy certification such as CPT, PBT, or an equivalent certification required or currently in progress At least one year of clinical phlebotomy experience preferred Recent hands-on venipuncture and capillary collection experience Outpatient, community health, physician-office, or hospital experience preferred Experience with specimen labeling, processing, and transportation EMR or laboratory information system experience required; Epic experience is a plus Comfortable working with patients from diverse backgrounds and age groups Strong communication, organization, and patient-service skills Ability to work independently and maintain accuracy in a busy setting Reliable transportation to Jamaica Plain Ability to complete the entire 12-week assignment Schedule Day shift Approximately 9:00 AM-5:30 PM Start and end times may vary by approximately 30 minutes Approximately 12-week contract Apply today with an updated resume for immediate consideration.
