Job Description

Medical Technician (Phlebotomist) Cetechs is seeking Medical Technicians (Phlebotomists) to provide high‑quality phlebotomy and specimen processing services to Veterans at the VA Maine Healthcare System (Togus). This role supports inpatient, outpatient, and Emergency Department operations, ensuring accurate specimen collection, processing, and documentation in accordance with VA, VHA, and national laboratory standards. Key Responsibilities Perform venipuncture and blood collection for inpatients, outpatients, Emergency Department patients, and STAT/ASAP/timed draws, including ward rounds. Perform sample processing and prepare specimens for send‑out testing in accordance with laboratory protocols. Positively identify patients prior to sample collection and verify specimens prior to testing or aliquoting to ensure patient safety. Safeguard all electronic and paper patient information in compliance with VA privacy and information security policies. Independently perform, document, and report patient testing and quality control (QC); identify, document, and help resolve any collection, processing, testing, or reporting issues. Deliver patient‑centered care and maintain a professional, courteous manner to avoid complaints from Veterans, families, and staff. Work in multiple laboratory areas as determined by service needs and support overall on‑site laboratory operations. Minimum Qualifications At least three (3) years of recent phlebotomy experience. Demonstrated technical proficiency in phlebotomy and specimen processing, with the ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently. BLS or ACLS certification
