Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Specimen Collector to join our LSP Southeast team! LSP Southeast, LLC is a molecular laboratory serving the Mississippi area, working with local physician offices. The ideal candidate will be responsible for collecting molecular specimens from patients in a clinical setting, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, as you will interact with patients of all ages, including pediatrics, and must maintain a compassionate and professional demeanor. Duties Collect various types of specimens, including urine, nasal, and stool samples, following established protocols. Adhere to aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during specimen collection. Enter demographic information into the patient portal. Ensure all orders are placed within the patient portal and have resulted in a timely manner. Maintain accurate records of specimen collection and ensure proper labeling and handling for laboratory analysis. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure patient comfort and address any concerns during the collection process. Utilize laboratory techniques effectively to prepare specimens for testing. Qualifications Experience in a hospital or clinical setting is highly desirable. Familiarity with laboratory techniques is essential. Have the ability to perform specimen collections accurately. Previous experience working with pediatric patients is a plus. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare team members. Ability to work independently Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
