Responsibilities Perform blood draws and specimen collection using venipuncture and capillary techniques with precision and care. Ensure proper labeling, handling, and processing of specimens according to laboratory protocols and aseptic techniques. Travel to various patient locations, including homes, clinics, and hospitals, providing flexible and prompt service. Obtain vital signs and assess patient physiology to ensure safe collection procedures, especially for geriatrics and pediatrics. Maintain accurate documentation of procedures in electronic medical records (EMR) or electronic health records (EHR), including data entry of patient information and specimen details. Follow all laboratory procedures, safety guidelines, and infection control protocols diligently to uphold quality standards. Communicate clearly with patients to explain procedures, answer questions, and ensure a comfortable experience while demonstrating excellent customer service skills. Skills Proficiency in laboratory procedures, techniques, and specimen collection methods such as venipuncture and blood sampling. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and clinical laboratory practices. Experience with hospital environments or medical laboratories is highly preferred. Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary to transport supplies or specimens safely. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for accurate data entry and record keeping. Knowledge of aseptic technique to prevent contamination during specimen handling. CPR/BLS certification is required to ensure readiness for emergency situations involving patient care.
