Job Title:
Floater Phlebotomist - East NJ Job Description We are seeking a skilled and experienced Floater Phlebotomist to join our team in East New Jersey. The ideal candidate will have expertise in performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontaminating equipment, and updating patient information. This role involves collecting and storing specimens in accordance with established procedures. Responsibilities Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process clearly and courteously. Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles. Understand and follow physicians' orders accurately. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required. Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy. Package specimens for transport and store samples at the required temperature. Ensure compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department training sessions. Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to address inquiries. Essential Skills 2 years of phlebotomy experience, preferably in high-volume patient service centers or oncology centers. Proficiency in blood drawing and using straight needles. Experience with centrifuges and maintaining blood pressure equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications GED or High School Diploma. Experience working in smaller office settings or patient service centers (PSCs) to gain exposure to diverse environments. Work Environment This is a floating position based out of the Jersey City office, requiring travel within East Jersey, from Mahwah to Maplewood, covering a distance of 30-50 miles. Mileage reimbursement for tolls and parking is provided. The working hours are Monday to Friday, with an 8-hour shift between 7 am and 7 pm. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Elmwood Park, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
