What You'll Do:
Draw blood samples accurately and safely from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations. Prepare specimens for laboratory testing according to established procedures, ensuring proper labeling and documentation. Verify patient demographic information with care, ensuring labels are correctly applied in the presence of the patient to maintain specimen integrity. Provide excellent customer service by explaining procedures clearly and creating a welcoming atmosphere that fosters trust and confidence. Maintain a clean, safe, and professional environment, adhering to all health and safety policies. Record and document procedures meticulously, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily operational goals, adapt to changing staffing needs, and support a positive workplace culture. Demonstrate leadership behaviors by focusing on process improvements, confidentiality, and accuracy in all tasks. Travel to various patient service centers or clinical locations as needed, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
Required Skills:
Proven expertise in venipuncture and capillary collection, with a background in pediatric and geriatric blood draws. Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience, preferably in a clinical or patient service center environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to error-free work. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to provide compassionate patient care and clear explanations. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also thriving in team settings. Capable of multitasking efficiently in high-volume settings. Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and infection control standards. Proficiency in data entry, electronic health records, and managing patient information accurately. Nice to
Have Skills:
Medical assistant or paramedic training. Phlebotomy certification (preferred but not mandatory). Experience working in diverse clinical environments, including pediatric and elderly patient populations. Knowledge of specialty terminology and familiarity with laboratory workflows. Bilingual abilities to serve diverse patient communities.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (preferred). At least three years of professional phlebotomy experience, including pediatric and geriatric collections. Prior experience in a patient service center or outpatient setting highly desirable.
Other Requirements:
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation if travel between multiple locations is involved. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and on-call hours. Ability to lift and position patients, as well as handle equipment and specimens safely. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding organizational policies.
