Job Description

Position Summary:
The Specimen Collector follows specimen (urine, saliva, and/or blood) collection protocols for collection. To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty to a satisfactory standard. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. Specimen Collector Responsibilities:
Ensure that all patient paperwork is filled out correctly and all necessary information has been captured at the time of the collection Update and maintain patient information and records, as necessary, while ensuring patients complete privacy, observing HIPAA regulations into laboratory information system. Perform and follow specimen (urine, blood, and saliva) collection protocols for specimen collection. Monitor and maintain supplies and supply records for all clinic needs. Communicating to lab any supply requests in a timely manner. Securely and safely package specimens for pick up by the lab's courier service. Follow general work protocols regarding breaks and cell phone usage during business hours. Adherence to all clinic policies and OSHA standards/policies Education and/or
Experience:
High School Diploma or GED Minimum 1 year of customer service experience Preferred at least 1 year of Specimen Collection Experience Minimum Qualifications Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Skills Be dependable and extremely well organized Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory protocols. Demonstrate excellent communication and compassion when working with patients, particularly in senior care settings. Strong work ethic, commitment to completing assigned tasks and dedicated to high quality work Outstanding attention to details, ability to multitask and the ability to complete the job without any errors Ability to work with patients in a professional and compassionate manner Ability to communicate well with the clinic's provider and laboratory management Be able to work independently with minimal supervision The ideal candidate has experience in high volume clinical settings obtaining blood samples. Dress in compliance with clinic needs. Follow general work protocols regarding breaks and cell phone usage during business hours 3 days per week, 8 hour work days
