PRN Phlebotomist Columbia Nephrology Associates Columbia, SC Job Details PRN 1 day ago Qualifications Vascular access Certified Phlebotomy Technician Patient service High school diploma or GED Attention to detail Full Job Description We are seeking a dependable and patient-focused PRN Phlebotomist to join our Laboratory Services team. This position will provide phlebotomy and specimen collection services at two practice locations between our downtown Columbia and West Columbia location, requiring the ability and willingness to travel between locations based on staffing and operational needs. The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and committed to providing positive patient experience while maintaining the highest standards of specimen quality and safety. Essential Responsibilities
  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections accurately and efficiently.
  • Identify patients using appropriate identification procedures prior to specimen collection.
  • Collect, label, process, and prepare specimens according to laboratory policies and established procedures.
  • Follow appropriate specimen handling, storage, and transportation requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure specimens are properly identified and accounted for.
  • Provide courteous and professional patient service.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe phlebotomy area.
  • Follow all laboratory, OSHA, infection prevention, and safety policies.
  • Assist with laboratory workflow and other duties as assigned.
  • Travel between the two practice locations as needed to meet staffing and patient-care requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with laboratory and clinical staff regarding specimen collection, processing, and patient concerns.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements. Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; certification requirements will be based on applicable state and organizational requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel between two practice locations are required. Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements associated with phlebotomy.
  • Ability to lift and transport laboratory supplies and specimens as required.
  • Ability to safely perform venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures.
PRN Schedule This is a PRN position with no guaranteed number of hours. Scheduling will be based on laboratory staffing needs, employee availability, and patient volume. The selected candidate must be willing to work at either practice location and provide coverage when needed.
