Job Description

The Phlebotomist will perform venipunctures and process clinical lab specimens for use in diagnosis and treatment of patients. Will perform test analyses, report results, and maintain patient records. Register patient accounts to ensure proper patient ID and billing accuracy.
  • Collect blood samples, accurately label specimens.
  • Use aseptic technique when collecting blood culture specimens.
  • Process and handle all specimens according to procedures.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot applicable lab equipment; notify the lab manager when equipment is in need of repair/ replacement.
  • Document quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed.
  • Follow proper storage requirements of reconstituted materials.
  • Perform high quality lab testing with speed and accuracy. Documents patient results.
  • Assist Lab Manager in instrument validations, linearity studies, and miscellaneous investigatory work as assigned.
  • Maintain and disinfect work area.
  • Monitor proper expirations, rotation, and supply of inventory ordering as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required:
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in phlebotomy or equivalent combination of clinical/clerical skills in a lab setting
  • Knowledge in evaluating patient results to make decisions on validity of test results
  • Competence in use of HIS, LIS, registration, scheduling, and/or reference lab computer systems
  • Local travel required Phlebotomy, Lab Support
