In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting our medical staff and ensuring the smooth operation of our clinical environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, along with hands-on experience in laboratory techniques and patient care. Responsibilities Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures. Perform routine clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and documenting medical histories. Conduct laboratory tests and procedures, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques. Collect and process blood samples through phlebotomy and other blood sampling methods. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinical laboratory environment. Ability to navigate a computer and accurately enter data is a requirement to be successful in this role. Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information and collect payments when required, following corporate policies.
Processing specimens including:
labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and preparing for transport as required by test order. Perform all non-patient facing duties, including inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones and utilizing email as appropriate. Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures. Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner and based on frequency, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs. Perform venipunctures and capillary punctures to collect blood samples with a high level of accuracy and patient care Communicate effectively with patients to provide a comfortable experience, addressing any concerns or anxieties Collaborate with medical staff to manage sample priorities and ensure timely test results Follow safety and infection control procedures, using PPE and disposing of sharps appropriately Assist with other clinical tasks as needed and support the overall efficiency of the office Experience Knowledge of physiology and anatomy is essential for understanding patient needs and assisting in clinical procedures. Experience in a hospital or clinical setting is preferred, providing familiarity with the healthcare environment. Proficiency in laboratory techniques relevant to clinical laboratory operations. Understanding of medical terminology to effectively communicate within the healthcare team. Experience with blood sampling techniques, including phlebotomy, is highly desirable. Qualifications and Requirements Active Certified Phlebotomist (CPT) required High school diploma or equivalent At least 1 year of phlebotomy experience Knowledge of CLIA Waiver requirements Strong knowledge of phlebotomy techniques, specimen handling, and laboratory safety protocols Experience with medical EMR systems Knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA rules and regulations, Bloodborne PathogenOSHA Safety procedures Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members Reside within a 30-minute commute to Frisco Join us in making a difference in patient care while advancing your career as a Medical Assistant.
