In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately collecting blood samples and other specimens from patients, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and laboratory procedures. Your expertise will support diagnostic testing, patient diagnosis, and treatment plans, contributing directly to improved health outcomes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where your skills in venipuncture, specimen processing, and patient service will make a meaningful difference every day. Responsibilities Perform venipuncture and capillary blood sampling with precision and care, adhering to aseptic techniques to prevent contamination. Collect, label, and process specimens accurately according to established laboratory procedures and protocols. Obtain vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates to assist in patient assessment. Maintain clear and detailed documentation of all specimen collection activities, ensuring compliance with medical terminology standards. Provide compassionate patient care by explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and ensuring comfort throughout the specimen collection process. Follow proper laboratory techniques for specimen handling, storage, and transportation to ensure sample integrity. Apply physiology knowledge of anatomy to locate appropriate veins for venipuncture and ensure successful blood draws. Maintain a clean and sterile environment using proper aseptic techniques during all procedures. Collaborate effectively with hospital staff, laboratory personnel, and healthcare providers to facilitate smooth workflow and accurate test results. Adhere to safety protocols related to bloodborne pathogens and infection control practices at all times. Experience Prior experience in a clinical laboratory setting or hospital environment performing phlebotomy or related specimen collection tasks is highly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques, and medical terminology relevant to blood sampling and specimen processing. Proven ability to perform venipuncture confidently using various methods suited for diverse patient populations. Experience working with patients of all ages while providing excellent patient service and care. Familiarity with anatomy knowledge related to veins and arteries enhances successful specimen collection efforts.
