Reports To:
Laboratory Manager Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Laboratory Processor / Phlebotomist to join our laboratory team. The ideal candidate will have experience with automated specimen processing systems, strong laboratory workflow knowledge, and excellent customer service skills. This role is responsible for specimen processing, laboratory support functions, phlebotomy, handling laboratory add-on requests, and serving as a professional point of contact for incoming laboratory calls. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate and maintain Beckman Coulter Automated Sample Processing equipment and associated laboratory automation systems. Receive, verify, accession, label, and process patient specimens accurately and efficiently. Review and process laboratory add-on orders, ensuring specimen availability and test appropriateness. Perform venipuncture and specimen collection following established laboratory procedures and patient safety standards, as needed. Answer incoming laboratory telephone calls and provide professional assistance to physicians, clinical staff, patients, and reference laboratories. Investigate specimen issues, missing information, and order discrepancies to ensure timely resolution. Maintain specimen integrity through proper handling, storage, and transport procedures. Monitor workflow queues and prioritize urgent and stat testing requests. Assist with quality control procedures and compliance with laboratory policies and regulatory requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Collaborate with laboratory, clinical, and administrative staff to ensure excellent patient care and service. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 2 years of laboratory processing experience preferred. Hands-on experience operating Beckman Coulter Automated Sample Processing systems required. Phlebotomy experience with demonstrated proficiency in venipuncture. Strong understanding of specimen handling, accessioning, and laboratory workflows. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment. Proficiency with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic medical records. Preferred Qualifications Phlebotomy certification preferred. Experience in a high-volume physician office laboratory, reference laboratory, or hospital laboratory. Familiarity with laboratory quality assurance and regulatory standards. Desired Personal Characteristics Self-motivated and dependable. Strong problem-solving skills.
