We are looking for an energetic, compassionate, and detail-oriented Apheresis Specialist to provide exceptional care to blood donors while performing whole blood and apheresis collection procedures. JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for ensuring donor suitability and performing whole blood and apheresis collection procedures per applicable regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
SCHEDULE
Full-time position, 40 hours/week Fixed schedule working between the hours of 6:00 am - 8:00 pm and every 3rd weekend
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(other duties may be assigned): 1. Performs routine procedures using equipment available and according to manufacturer and regulatory guidelines. Performs quality control and equipment maintenance as required by the manufacturer and SOP. 2. Determines the eligibility and suitability of blood donors and documents findings during health history screening according to standard operating procedures. 3. Performs whole blood and automated collection procedures according to standard operating procedures and department performance expectation. 4. Ensures donor consents are appropriately obtained and that operational performance standards relative to automated collections are met. 5. Exhibits exceptional customer service at all times. 6. Completes and actively participates in all required training within designated time frames. 7. Demonstrates teamwork, flexibility and dependability to create a collaborative and engaged working environment. 8. Attends department meetings, Employee Forums, and other mandatory meetings, and in-services unless working a scheduled shift or on pre-approved time off. 9. Completes competency evaluations/exams as directed. 10. Responsible for routinely checking email and mailboxes for pertinent communication. 11. Demonstrates professional communication with co-workers, leadership and community members. 12. Responsible for timely review submission of documentation including but not limited to: time cards, receipts, credit card reconciliation, and deviation management follow up.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or equivalency required AND at least six months of progressive experience or equivalent. Previous phlebotomy experience and medical terminology required. Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills in team environment. Excellent customer service skills. Observation and performance of repetitive tasks. Accurate documentation with emphasis on detail. Utilizing resource materials and utilizing mentors, supervisors and training staff appropriately. Assessment of donor suitability based on established criteria. Employee may occasionally be required to lift objects or materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Reliable transportation for this position is required along with a current valid driver's license and vehicle insurance coverage.
