Job Description

Make an Impact in Healthcare Education Positions available at the Greenbrier Valley Campus, and the Nicholas County Campus New River Community and Technical College is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Adjunct Faculty member in Phlebotomy to help prepare students for entry-level careers in the healthcare field. This role is ideal for a skilled professional who is passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of phlebotomists. Position Overview The Adjunct Faculty member will provide didactic and hands-on laboratory instruction in Principles of Phlebotomy. Courses are delivered at the Greenbrier Valley and Nicholas County Campus and may include in-person, online, Zoom, or Interactive Adjunct faculty play a vital role as educators, mentors, and collaborators , contributing to student success and workforce readiness. Key Responsibilities Deliver engaging classroom and laboratory instruction in phlebotomy Teach venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques effectively Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate academic records Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth Coordinate clinical rotations with program leadership and healthcare partners Ensure compliance with college policies and safety standards Utilize technology to support in-person and virtual learning environments Maintain regular communication with students and faculty Participate in department meetings and required college activities Complete course assessments and reporting requirements on time
What We're Looking For Required Qualifications:
Current national certification in one of the following: Phlebotomy or Medical Laboratory Science/Technology Medical Assistant, LPN, or RN Associate's degree (or higher) in an allied health or related field Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience performing venipuncture and capillary puncture
Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience in higher education Experience with Zoom, IVN, or online instruction Familiarity with instructional technology (e.g., Microsoft Word, learning platforms) Experience with dual enrollment programs Skills & Attributes Strong technical expertise in phlebotomy practices Ability to effectively teach both theory and hands-on skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Commitment to student success and academic excellence Strong organizational and time management abilities Our Mission & Values At New River Community and Technical College, we are committed to providing accessible, affordable, and high-quality education that meets the needs of our region.
