37.5 Hours Per Week Position Summary We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Physical Therapist to join our Inpatient Rehabilitation team. The Physical Therapist is responsible for providing high-quality patient evaluations, treatment planning, therapeutic interventions, and documentation for rehabilitation patients. This role requires effective collaboration with interdisciplinary team members and a strong commitment to exceptional patient care and customer service. The successful candidate will assess patients' functional abilities, develop individualized treatment plans, and implement evidence-based physical therapy interventions to help patients achieve their highest level of independence, function, and safety during their inpatient rehabilitation stay. Essential Responsibilities Provide physical therapy services in accordance with established professional standards, approved methods of practice, and the guidelines of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Perform comprehensive evaluations, assessments, and treatments for patients experiencing functional limitations due to injury, surgery, acute illness, or chronic disease. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans designed to maximize patient outcomes. Educate patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals on therapeutic techniques, safety measures, and strategies to support patient recovery and functional independence. Foster positive interpersonal and interdisciplinary relationships while maintaining professional conduct at all times. Complete documentation, evaluations, treatment notes, and assigned tasks accurately, efficiently, and within required timeframes. Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling and adapt to changing patient care needs. Accurately record daily billable treatment time in accordance with departmental procedures and regulatory requirements. Participate in departmental meetings, facility in-services, continuing education activities, and quality improvement initiatives. Successfully complete all required core competencies. Perform other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The Staff Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluating patients' levels of function and developing and administering appropriate therapeutic treatment plans. The therapist is responsible for maintaining documentation in accordance with American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) standards and organizational policies and procedures. The Physical Therapist actively participates in program development, continuing education, departmental meetings, and quality improvement initiatives. The successful candidate must be able to relate to and work effectively with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally distressed, and occasionally hostile patients while maintaining professionalism and compassion.
Additional qualifications include:
Strong clinical assessment and treatment planning skills. Excellent communication and patient education abilities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Commitment to providing patient-centered care and achieving positive outcomes. Environmental Conditions Rare exposure to blood, body tissues, or bodily fluids. Possible exposure to high and low temperature conditions. Minimum Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited college or university required. Experience Minimum of one (1) year of physical therapy experience required. Licensure & Certifications Current Connecticut Physical Therapist License required. Certified by the National Board of Certification in Physical Therapy required. Valid driver's license required.
