Job Description
Encompass Health seeks a Doctor of Physical Therapy to provide evidence-based rehabilitation services in an inpatient setting. In this role, you will evaluate patients recovering from complex illnesses and injuries, create and adjust individualized treatment plans, and deliver therapeutic interventions to restore function, mobility, and independence. You will collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team, educate patients and families, document clinical progress, and contribute to a culture of clinical excellence, compassion, and continuous professional growth. Responsibilities Provide evidence-based physical therapy evaluations and treatments for patients recovering from illness, injury, or surgery Develop, implement, and adjust individualized rehabilitation plans in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team Educate patients and families on therapy goals, home exercise programs, and safe mobility techniques Document assessments, treatment plans, and patient progress in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards Participate in team conferences, discharge planning, and care coordination to optimize patient outcomes Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and uphold best practices in patient safety and clinical excellence Provide mentorship and clinical guidance to therapy staff and students as appropriate Required Skills Physical therapy evaluation and treatment Rehabilitation plan of care development Gait and balance training Therapeutic exercise prescription Neuromuscular re-education Patient and family education Clinical documentation and EMR use Interdisciplinary care coordination Functional mobility and transfer training Outcome measurement and progress tracking
