Job Description
Mercy is seeking a Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. You will evaluate and treat patients with pelvic floor dysfunction, develop individualized care plans, and collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. Responsibilities include patient assessment, implementation of evidence-based interventions, patient and family education, accurate documentation, and participation in quality improvement. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive evaluation and ongoing treatment for patients with pelvic floor and women's health conditions, including pain, dysfunction, and incontinence. Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based plans of care focused on functional goals and quality-of-life improvements. Perform internal and external pelvic floor assessments in accordance with professional standards and patient comfort and consent. Deliver manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, and behavioral strategies tailored to pelvic health needs. Educate patients on self-management, lifestyle modifications, home exercise programs, and prevention strategies in a compassionate, trauma-informed manner. Collaborate closely with referring OB/GYNs, urologists, primary care providers, midwives, and other Mercy clinicians to coordinate care. Document evaluations, treatments, progress notes, and outcomes accurately and timely within Mercy's electronic medical record system. Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives within the pelvic health service line. Engage in ongoing professional development, including continuing education in pelvic floor and women's health physical therapy. Required Skills Pelvic floor assessment and treatment (internal and external) Women's health-focused orthopedic and musculoskeletal evaluation Development and progression of individualized pelvic rehab plans of care Manual therapy techniques for pelvic, lumbar, and hip regions Therapeutic exercise prescription and progression Bladder and bowel dysfunction management strategies Pre- and post-partum rehabilitation techniques Patient education and self-management coaching Trauma-informed and culturally sensitive communication Outcome measurement and documentation in EMR systems Interdisciplinary collaboration with physicians and midwives Time management and independent caseload management
