Job Description

Category Schools - PT Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact by supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a year-round outpatient program near Binghamton, NY. This contract opportunity invites a skilled Physical Therapist to work 15-20 hours per week, providing essential care to a diverse group of patients ranging from 12 years old to older adults, with a strong emphasis on young adults.
Qualifications & Skills:
Licensed Physical Therapist with experience in either school or healthcare settings Background in working with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) preferred Understanding of the Medicare/Medicaid system required; script writing not necessary Ability to engage, build rapport, and communicate effectively with patients of varying abilities Experience with a wide range of disabilities - no restraint involvement expected Team-oriented, patient, and adaptable personality
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct individualized PT sessions for most patients twice weekly Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes Assess, develop, and carry out tailored therapy plans based on patient goals and progress Adapt communication and therapy strategies for varying levels of cognitive and physical ability Maintain documentation, monitor progress, and coordinate care as needed Participate in schedule planning and program development during interview discussions with the program director As part of this innovative year-round program, you'll have flexibility in scheduling your sessions and the unique opportunity to work with a passionate team, all while making a difference in the lives of individuals with diverse abilities.
