Uses techniques including targeted exercises and massage therapy. Works in conjunction with other healthcare providers to provide rehabilitation to patients after an injury or illness. May specialize in treating certain types of injuries or patients.

Physical Therapist Responsibilities:
Evaluate patients' physical condition, mobility, strength, balance, posture, and range of motion. Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and goals. Perform therapeutic exercises to improve strength, flexibility, endurance, and coordination. Use manual therapy techniques, including joint mobilization and soft tissue manipulation. Administer physical agents such as heat, cold, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and traction when appropriate. Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans based on clinical outcomes. Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, injury prevention, posture, body mechanics, and self-management techniques. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of evaluations, treatment sessions, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Assist patients in regaining mobility following surgery, injury, stroke, or illness. Recommend assistive devices such as walkers, canes, crutches, wheelchairs, or orthotics and provide training on their use. Assess fall risk and implement interventions to improve safety and reduce injury. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, ethical standards, infection control, and patient privacy requirements. Participate in discharge planning and coordinate appropriate follow-up care. Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) and rehabilitation aides as permitted by state regulations. Stay current with evidence-based practices through continuing education and professional development.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 6:00 pm, 1 weekend per month, and 2 holidays per year.
