About us: Just Kids is a group of specialized preschools in Suffolk & Nassau County, Long Island, NY. Serving children with a wide range of disabilities from three to five years of age. We work as an interdisciplinary team with occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech therapists, psychologists, nursing, vision therapy, and special education teachers. Just Kids believes that all areas of development are interrelated and interdependent and that learning occurs at different rates for different children and that the child's early learning environment and experiences significantly impact on their lifelong development. Just Kids believes that the best outcomes for children occur when families and professionals work together in partnership to meet the unique needs of the child and family. Contract PT needed for Just Kids preschool classrooms in Mattituck-Cutchogue and New Suffolk sites. Should have pediatric experience. The contract rate is $43/for a 30-minute session. Treatment hours are between 8:30-2:30pm. A laptop for notes and reports will be provided. Participate in required team meetings on-site or remotely. Days and hours are flexible. This position is through the school year and possibly through the summer session
Responsibilities:
The Physical Therapist is responsible for direct patient services, including evaluation and treatment, participation in in-service programs, recordkeeping, and documentation and provides consultation to staff and family when necessary.
  • Evaluation:
    Performs pre-entry evaluation, initial evaluation, and re-evaluations to assess child's development level, and identify handicapping delays and disorders. Establishes long and short-term goals for each child.
  • Treatment:
    Plans and administers individual physical potential and development. Modifies therapy program as needed.
Written Reports:
Provide written reports of all evaluation, re-evaluations, progress reports, daily file notes, and annual reviews as scheduled.
Qualifications:
  • Must possess a minimum of a B.S. in Physical Therapy from an accredited college or university.
  • Must be licensed and currently registered in New York State as a Physical Therapist or possess a limited permit to work under a Licensed Therapist.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational skills for case management and documentation.
