The Physical Therapist will lead all therapeutic rehab and patient care under the therapy department. This position is responsible for implementation and design of therapeutic exercise programs to restore patient's function, alleviate pain and/or prevent disabilities. The position's goal is to ensure the efficiency of the therapeutic exercise program while promoting a safe, healthy, and rewarding environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Creates and implements exercise and rehab protocols that meets the patient's goals and needs. Helps patients accomplish the treatment plan, accept therapeutic devices, and answers questions and inquiries regarding passive and active therapy. Determines physical therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians and/or by prescription. Administers physical therapy treatments such as manual therapy, initiating traction, applying physical agents, utilizing hydrotherapy tanks, moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, and ultrasound machines. Directs treatments given by aides, technicians, and assistants. Instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing treatment activities such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily-living activities and in using assistive and supportive devices such as crutches, canes, and prostheses. Utilizes proven rehab techniques with day to day functions of patient care and retention. Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, and other health care workers. Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs, instructing patients, families, and caregivers of in-home exercise programs; recommending and/or providing assistive equipment, recommending outpatient and/or home health follow up programs. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Keeps patient confidence and protect practice operations by keeping information confidential. Conducts themselves in an ethical, legal, and responsible manner always. Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation, attending educational workshops, participating in professional societies, and reviewing professional publications. Develops all rehab employees by providing information; developing and conducting in-service training programs. Holds monthly rehab meetings to ensure protocol and procedures are being maintained. Requirements:
Texas state licensure CPR Certification Dry Needling Certification (not required, but is a plus)
