The ideal candidate will be responsible for improving and maintaining the physical, mental and emotional well-being of the patients. Experience assisting patients recover basic motor functioning and reasoning abilities, build confidence, and socialize effectively is needed. This role requires a strong understanding of various therapeutic techniques and the ability to work with diverse populations, specifically older adult patients. Responsibilities Provides direct therapy for geriatric psychiatric patients to improve patients' mental and physical well-being. Develops and establishes activities of a therapeutic nature suited to the physical and mental capabilities of the patients. Adapts exercises, and other activities to patients' needs and abilities. Observe, analyze, and record patients' participation, reactions, and progress during activities, modifying treatment programs as needed. Designs individualized treatment program to meet needs of the patient, based on needs assessment, patient interests, and objectives of therapy. Completes an Assessment on each patient in a timely fashion within 72 hours of physician order. Confers with physicians, therapists, and other staff members regarding the treatment needs of patients by attending treatment team meetings as scheduled. Coordinates the therapy program with other disciplines. Counsel and encourage patients to develop leisure activities. Instruct patients' in activities and techniques, designed to meet their specific physical or psychological needs. Plan, organize, direct and participate in groups and activities to facilitate patients' return to a more normal level of functioning. Requirements The successful candidate will possess the following skills: Graduate of accredited PT or PT program Experience in dementia care and senior care practices. Strong behavior management skills to support clients with challenging behaviors. Ability to conduct thorough patient assessments for individualized care planning. Experience working with individuals with disabilities across various settings. Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and team members.
