  • Full-time Job Description The Physical Therapist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients with orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions in a busy outpatient setting.
This role delivers evidence-based, individualized care while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team to help patients achieve the best possible functional outcomes. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive initial evaluations and develop individualized plans of care for patients with orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions. Provide therapeutic interventions including exercise prescription, manual therapy techniques, and functional training tailored to each patient. Monitor patient progress at each visit and adjust treatment plans as clinically indicated. Perform ongoing reassessments and update patient goals to reflect changes in condition and progress. Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation for all patient encounters. Collaborate effectively with Physical Therapist Assistants, Athletic Trainers, and support staff to coordinate high-quality patient care. Supervise and direct rehabilitation technicians and other designated support staff during patient care activities. Educate patients on their diagnosis, treatment plan, home exercise program, and recovery expectations to promote engagement and adherence. Ensure continuity of care through consistent patient follow-up and clear communication with the care team. Participate in clinic initiatives focused on improving patient outcomes, clinic performance, and overall patient experience. Essential Skills Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited program. Active Virginia Physical Therapist license in good standing, or eligibility to obtain one. Strong clinical reasoning skills in orthopedic and musculoskeletal physical therapy. Demonstrated proficiency in physical therapy evaluation and treatment, including manual therapy and therapeutic exercise. Ability to manage a full outpatient patient caseload efficiently and safely. Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills for patient interaction and team collaboration. Effective time management and organizational skills to balance documentation, treatment, and follow-up. Physical ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the clinic for extended periods. Ability to assist patients safely with mobility and transfers. Ability to lift or support up to 50 pounds as needed during patient care. Fine motor skills required for accurate documentation and precise treatment delivery. Additional Skills & Qualifications Willingness to consider and support new graduates. Commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based care and measurable outcomes. Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach to working with PTAs, Athletic Trainers, and support staff. Interest in pursuing advanced certifications such as Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS), dry needling, and other specialty credentials. Motivation for career growth, with opportunities to progress into lead or managerial roles. Comfort using electronic documentation systems and clinic technology. Strong commitment to professional development, including participation in continuing education. Work Environment This is an on-site outpatient clinic role with operating hours Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Physical Therapists work one of three shifts: 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The environment is active and fast-paced, requiring frequent standing, walking, and hands-on patient care. The clinic emphasizes a supportive, positive culture with strong teamwork and clear pathways for career advancement; in recent years, all Physical Therapists hired have progressed into lead or managerial roles. The role involves regular use of standard outpatient physical therapy equipment and electronic documentation systems.
