About the
Role:
The Physical Therapy Aide plays a vital role in supporting physical therapists by preparing treatment areas, assisting patients, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. This position focuses on facilitating patient care through tasks such as setting up equipment, helping patients with exercises, and maintaining accurate records. The aide acts as a liaison between patients and therapists, ensuring a comfortable and efficient therapeutic environment. By managing administrative duties like patient registration and electronic medical records, the aide contributes to the overall effectiveness of the therapy team. Ultimately, this role enhances patient outcomes by providing essential support that allows therapists to focus on delivering specialized care.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Must possess a BLS certification or obtain within 30 days of hire. Basic knowledge of medical terminology and patient care principles. Experience or familiarity with electronic medical records systems. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification or coursework in exercise physiology or strength training. Experience with ultrasound equipment in a clinical setting. Background in neuroscience or related health sciences. Previous experience in a physical therapy or rehabilitation environment. Proficiency in patient registration software and front desk operations.
Responsibilities:
Assist Physical Therapists or Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (LPTA) in preparing treatment areas and equipment for patient sessions. Support patients during therapeutic exercises and activities, ensuring safety and proper technique. Manage patient registration processes and maintain accurate electronic medical records. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of therapy equipment to ensure a safe environment. Handle front desk duties including scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, and coordinating communication between staff and patients.
Skills:
The required skills such as ultrasound operation and patient care are essential for assisting therapists in delivering effective treatments and ensuring patient safety. Knowledge of electronic medical records and patient registration enables the aide to efficiently manage administrative tasks, contributing to seamless clinic workflow. Understanding exercise physiology and strength training allows the aide to support therapeutic exercises accurately under supervision. Familiarity with medical terminology and neuroscience enhances communication with healthcare professionals and comprehension of treatment plans.
