Job Description

Oneida Health is currently seeking a full-time Physical Therapy Aide to work the day shift at our Extended Care Facility located in Oneida. This position performs routine helper tasks including but not limited to some patient care duties as well as clerical duties. The work is performed under the instruction and supervision of a qualified physical therapist and depending on the staffing patterns, a physical therapy assistant. Preparing patients for treatment and providing transport or accompanying them to treatment areas. Preparing, setting up, and maintaining physical therapy treatment areas and equipment relative to the physical therapist's direction. Assisting patients with exercise movements or changing positions during treatment. Recording charges on each patient relative to their billing and entering data into the computer; performing double checks of charges with appropriate procedures. Communicating regularly with appropriate staff regarding patient care, and scheduling. Helping patients carry out their maintenance programs as directed by a Physical Therapist. Cleaning, making repairs and maintaining physical therapy equipment and supplies. Assisting in maintaining the inventory of physical therapy supplies and equipment. Observing patients for safety and comfort and notifying the Physical Therapist or Assistant of changes in the patient's condition. Assisting the physical therapist or assistants in restorative and rehabilitative treatments. Maintaining records pertaining to treatment plans within Medicare guidelines and faxing, tracking, obtaining signatures, scanning, and filing care plans. Assisting with front desk tasks including opening or closing the department, preparing schedules, answering phones, and maintaining the flow of business when needed. Maintaining statistics of patients, visits, and charges. Opening and closing the department.

Your Essential Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
Experience:
Healthcare experience: 2 Years (Preferred)
License/Certification:
CNA (Required)
