Job Description

Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Overview The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to help patients regain movement and manage pain following injuries, surgeries, or chronic health conditions. PTAs play a key role in implementing therapeutic treatment plans and supporting patients throughout their rehabilitation journey.

Key Responsibilities Treatment Implementation:
Administer physical therapy treatments and exercises as prescribed by the Physical Therapist. Assist patients in performing therapeutic activities (e.g., gait training, stretching, strengthening exercises). Operate and monitor equipment like ultrasound machines, electrical stimulation devices, and hot/cold therapy tools.
Patient Monitoring:
Observe and report patient responses to treatments. Record progress and communicate any concerns or changes in condition to the supervising Physical Therapist. Modify treatment approaches as instructed to enhance patient outcomes.
Patient Education & Support:
Educate patients and their families on exercises and activities to do at home. Provide motivation and encouragement during therapy sessions. Ensure patient comfort, safety, and compliance with therapeutic protocols.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient treatments. Assist with scheduling and preparing therapy spaces and equipment. Comply with facility policies and professional/legal standards.
Qualifications Education:
Associate's degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
Licensure/Certification:
State licensure or certification (varies by state). CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
Skills:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Attention to detail and ability to follow clinical instructions precisely. Physical stamina and the ability to assist patients with mobility challenges.
