This position will work along side the Physical Therapist on complex orthopedic and sport related injuries both in pre and post op settings Min 1yr Exp is recommended and a strong background in functional/performance exercises/training and manual skills and familiarity with Blood Flow Restriction Therapy, Kinesiotaping, Focused Shockwave, and Alter G treadmill Overview Join our dynamic outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine team as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA). In this vital role, you will work closely with licensed physical therapists to deliver exceptional patient care, assist in implementing personalized treatment plans, and support patients on their journey to recovery. This position offers an energetic environment where your skills in manual therapy, patient communication, and clinical documentation will directly impact patients' mobility, strength, and overall well-being. Whether working with athletes, geriatrics, pediatrics, or post-surgical patients, you will be an integral part of a collaborative healthcare team dedicated to restoring function and enhancing quality of life. Responsibilities Assist licensed physical therapists in developing and executing individualized treatment plans for orthopedic and sports medicine patients. Implement various physical therapy treatments including manual therapy, trigger point therapy, and therapeutic exercises to promote healing and improve mobility. Monitor patient progress through careful clinical assessment documentation and adjust care plans accordingly. Operate medical equipment safely and effectively while adhering to clinical documentation standards and electronic health records (EHR) management protocols. Communicate clearly with patients to explain procedures, discharge instructions, and care plans, ensuring they are engaged and informed throughout their recovery process. Collaborate with healthcare professionals such as physicians, occupational therapists, and caregivers to coordinate comprehensive patient care. Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with clinical standards and facilitate discharge planning for ongoing or post-treatment needs. Requirements Valid Florida licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in accordance with state regulations. Min 1yr experience in outpatient settings with a focus on orthopedics or sports medicine; inpatient or skilled nursing facility experience is a plus. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and physiotherapy techniques relevant to orthopedic conditions. Skilled in manual therapy techniques including trigger point therapy and other soft tissue mobilization methods. Familiarity with clinical assessment documentation standards and medical documentation practices. Ability to operate medical equipment safely while maintaining high standards of patient safety and care quality. Experience managing electronic health records (EHR) systems efficiently for accurate documentation. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of diverse backgrounds including geriatrics and pediatrics; experience in home health or acute care settings is advantageous. Knowledge of care plans, discharge procedures, and collaboration within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
