Job Summary:
The Physical Therapy Assistant at SportsCare Physical Therapy is responsible for assisting licensed physical therapists in the evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients, with a particular focus on sports-related injuries. This role is essential in helping patients regain optimal function and mobility to return to their sports and physical activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Evaluation:
Assist in conducting initial patient assessments, including gathering medical history and performing physical examinations.
Treatment Planning:
Collaborate with licensed physical therapists to develop customized treatment plans for patients based on their individual needs and goals.
Therapeutic Interventions:
Administer therapeutic exercises, modalities, and manual therapy techniques as prescribed by the physical therapist to improve patients' mobility, strength, and pain management.
Patient Education:
Educate patients about their conditions, treatment plans, and home exercise programs to promote self-care and facilitate recovery.
Progress Monitoring:
Continuously assess and document patient progress, making adjustments to treatment plans as necessary to ensure effective rehabilitation. Assist in
Recordkeeping:
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including treatment notes and progress reports, in compliance with legal and organizational requirements.
Equipment Maintenance:
Ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of therapy equipment and tools.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, including physical therapists, physicians, athletic trainers, and other staff, to provide comprehensive patient care.
Compliance:
Adhere to all relevant legal and ethical standards, as well as clinic policies and procedures.
Safety:
Ensure a safe and hygienic environment for patients and staff, including adherence to infection control measures.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Physical Therapy Assistance from an accredited program. State licensure or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant. CPR certification. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and physical therapy principles. Experience in sports-related injury rehabilitation is a plus. Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
