Full-time, 40 hours per week (8-hour shifts, days) Job Description We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our interdisciplinary healthcare team for a 13-week contract assignment in a skilled nursing facility in Cockeysville, Maryland. In this essential role, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT) to implement personalized treatment plans and help patients regain mobility, strength, and independence following injury, illness, or surgery. This position is ideal for a dedicated professional looking to make a significant impact on the lives of patients in a rehabilitative setting while gaining diverse clinical experience.
Responsibilities Patient Care:
Assist the supervising physical therapist in implementing individualized treatment plans. Provide therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and modalities (e.g., electrical stimulation, ultrasound) to improve patient function and mobility.
Documentation and Monitoring:
Observe, monitor, and document patient responses and progress during therapy sessions, reporting any changes or concerns to the supervising physical therapist. Maintain accurate patient records according to documentation standards and facility policies.
Patient Education:
Educate patients and their families on home exercise programs, proper use of assistive devices (e.g., walkers, canes), and strategies for injury prevention and wellness.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team during regular care meetings and support discharge planning to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
Safety and Compliance:
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized treatment environment, adhering to all infection-control policies, safety rules, and federal/state regulations.
Qualifications Education:
Associate's degree or a graduate from a Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE)-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
Licensure:
Current, active, and unrestricted Maryland state license as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), or eligibility to obtain one.
Certification:
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
Experience:
Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) or long-term care setting is preferred, though new graduates with relevant clinical rotation experience are welcome to apply.
Skills:
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with a compassionate and detail-oriented approach to patient care.
