Faculty Appointment Type Non-Tenure Track Term (if applicable) 12 month Begin Date of Appointment 08/01/2026 Exempt/Non-Exempt Exempt General Function The Practitioner-in-Residence is a non-tenure track faculty position appointed on the basis of outstanding professional attainments and recognition in his or her specific field and renders a specified service to the University. Description of Primary Duties The Practitioner-in-Residence will: Provide direct patient care in the Missouri State University Physical Therapy Clinic, including both insurance-based and pro bono services. Serve as a clinical expert in orthopedic physical therapy and manual therapy techniques. Supervise and mentor Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students in the provision of care within the pro bono clinic. Assist in the instruction and supervision of students in laboratory courses, contributing clinical expertise to support hands-on learning. Participate in department activities and initiatives as assigned by the Physical Therapy Program Director. Serve as a resource and role model for students and faculty in the application of evidence-based orthopedic physical therapy. Engage in professional service or clinical scholarship Minimum Acceptable Qualifications The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Practitioner-in-Residence are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook. Additional Qualifications Additional required qualifications specific to this role include: Hold an active license as a physical therapist and be eligible for licensure in the state of Missouri. Hold a clinical doctorate in physical therapy (DPT). Hold a current, unrestricted license to practice physical therapy and be eligible for licensure in Missouri. Demonstrate effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients, students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
