Qualifications and Experience Graduate of a CAPTE-accredited PTA program Licensed as a Physical Therapy Assistant in North Carolina Comfortable using email and interacting with Internet applications Knowledge of practice management and word processing software Current CPR Certification Excellent documentation and communication skills Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following Measure the patient's motor function Record strength and muscle performance Assist physical therapists in developing treatment plans Observe patients and write progress reports Evaluate the capability of patients to function independently Assist patients in carrying out specific exercises Treat patients with varieties of techniques, like stretching and massage Help patients with equipment and devices, like walkers Use and care for braces or prostheses (artificial body parts) Use electrical stimulation and ultrasound Educate patients on how to exercise properly to strengthen muscle and improve mobility Teach the patients and their family members what to do at home after treatment Ensures timely communication of patient needs, concerns to physical therapist for appropriate change in the patients plan of care Maintains compliance with infection control policies and procedures Performs patient education when appropriate including oral and written education related to diagnosis, procedures, and/or medications Ensures all documentation accurately reflects the patient encounter and plan of care Other Follows all applicable department and practice policies and procedures Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA privacy and confidentiality guidelines established by the practice Maintains detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software as it relates to job functions Computer input of patient information Participates in mandatory staff functions as directed by manager/team lead Performs all other tasks and projects delegated or assigned by manager Maintains a pleasant and cooperative demeanor while performing all duties Maintains compliance with continuing education requirements to maintain current certifications, licensure, etc. Employee will occasionally be asked to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds.
