The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in physiotherapy practices, with a focus on delivering comprehensive patient care across diverse settings. As a vital member of the rehabilitation team, the Physical Therapy Assistant will implement treatment plans, assist with patient assessments, and collaborate closely with licensed physical therapists and other healthcare professionals to promote optimal recovery outcomes. Responsibilities Assist licensed physical therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs. Conduct clinical assessments and document patient progress accurately in accordance with clinical documentation standards. Operate medical equipment safely and effectively during therapy sessions, including manual therapy tools and physiotherapy devices. Provide direct patient care through manual therapy, trigger point therapy, and other therapeutic interventions aimed at improving mobility and reducing pain. Maintain detailed records of treatment sessions, adhering to medical documentation and electronic health records (EHR) management protocols. Collaborate with healthcare professionals across disciplines to develop comprehensive care plans for patients in inpatient, outpatient, or skilled nursing facility settings. Support discharge planning processes by documenting progress and communicating client needs clearly to caregivers and family members. Engage in ongoing professional development related to physiology, anatomy, orthopedics, geriatrics, pediatrics, and other relevant areas of physical therapy practice. Requirements Certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) from an accredited program; licensure or registration as required by state or local regulations. Prior experience in inpatient settings, skilled nursing facilities, home health, outpatient clinics, or acute care environments is highly desirable. Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical assessment documentation standards, and physiotherapy treatment implementation techniques. Proficiency in operating medical equipment used for manual therapy and physiotherapy interventions. Familiarity with outpatient therapy procedures including orthopedics, geriatrics, pediatrics, and discharge planning processes. Strong communication skills for effective caregiver and client interaction; ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. Experience with electronic health records (EHR) management systems and medical documentation practices. Demonstrated expertise in specialized techniques such as trigger point therapy and other manual therapies aimed at musculoskeletal conditions.
