PRN Purpose:
This primary purpose is to assist the Physical Therapist in carrying out the programs of treatment to residents referred to Rehab Services for Physical Therapy. This position reports directly to the Physical Therapist on duty as well as the Director of Rehabilitation Services.
Qualifications:
1. Graduate of an APTA approved school of Physical Therapy Assistant with an Associate of Arts degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant. 2. Licensed in the State of South Carolina by the South Carolina Board of Physical Therapy.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Administers Physical Therapy treatments as prescribed by a physician and outlined in the resident's plan of care as established by the Physical Therapist. These services are provided to adult and geriatric residents. Requires Physical Therapist to perform supervisory treatments every seventh treatment throughout their program. 2. Measures range of motion, length and girth of body parts and vital signs, such as pulse, blood pressure and respiration to assist the Physical Therapist in compiling data to determine effects of specific treatments and functional outcomes. 3. Administers Physical Therapy treatments such as transfer training, balance gait training, hot packs, ultrasound, massage and therapeutic exercise with a goal of achieving greater than 85% of billable therapy minutes per total work hours per day. 4. Records appropriate and accurate treatment data and resident progress notes for Physical Therapy residents in the electronic health record. 5. Consults with other professionals regarding resident Physical Therapy program to help coordinate and plan medical services. 6. Instructs residents and their families in resident Physical Therapy home programs. 7. Communicates with the scheduler regarding scheduling of residents on caseload. 8. Maintains an optimistic and professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to residents, visitors, physicians and co-workers. Shows courtesy, compassion and respect. Conforms to facility Code of Ethics. 9. Mandatory participation in the facility's in-service education program (Relias) and provides in-service classes for other Lexington Medical Center Extended Care departments such as nursing, housekeeping, etc. 10. Attends professional conferences and meetings. 11. Assists with the transportation of residents as needed. 12. Uses safe techniques for protection of residents and self in performing duties. 13. Instructs and directs the Rehab Techs when assisting Physical Therapist Assistant. 14. Performs related and such other duties as may be assigned by authorized personnel or as required in an emergency, e.g. fire or disaster. 15. Assists in maintaining a neat and safe department by straightening equipment, putting away supplies, calling housekeeping when necessary and making suggestions to better the appearance of the department.

$35.00 per hour
