Job Summary We are seeking a licensed and dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities Implement physical therapy treatment plans established by the supervising Physical Therapist, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and modality application Assist patients with transfers, positioning, and mobility exercises using proper manual handling techniques, ensuring patient safety throughout all sessions Prepare treatment rooms and equipment for therapy sessions, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and proper calibration of therapeutic modalities Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient progress notes, treatment activities, and response to interventions in accordance with state licensure requirements and facility policy Communicate regularly with the supervising Physical Therapist regarding patient progress, changes in condition, and any clinical concerns Help with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient flow within the clinic or hospital environment Follow all safety protocols including CPR certification procedures and proper body mechanics during patient handling Provide clear patient education on home exercise programs and activity modifications to support continued recovery outside of therapy sessions Qualifications & Skills Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in the state of Maryland and/or Virginia (or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to start date) Associate degree from an accredited PTA program; additional clinical experience in inpatient or outpatient settings strongly preferred Strong understanding of patient service principles with a focus on compassionate, evidence-based care Solid knowledge of human physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to physical therapy practice Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including patient transfers and therapeutic exercise facilitation Familiarity with a range of care settings, including acute care, sub-acute care, geriatrics, and post-acute rehabilitation environments Excellent communication skills to support patient engagement, education, and interdisciplinary teamwork Current CPR/BLS certification required Experience working with diverse populations, including geriatric patients and those requiring complex rehabilitation services Join us in making a difference by supporting patients on their journey to recovery!
