Job Description

Job Summary Prepares patients and performs treatments under the direction of the Physical Therapist. Works effectively and cooperatively within the workplace. Location/Department specific tasks and competencies may apply. The information described in this job description has been designed to indicate the general nature of the work performed. Essential Functions Administer physical therapy treatments under the direction of the Physical Therapist. Administer active and passive manual exercises and modality treatments to improve and maintain patient function. Operate treatment devices in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and SRH policies and procedures. Instruct and assist patients in performance of various physical activities and use of supportive devices. Evaluate patient response and report findings to Physical Therapist. Document patient treatment, response and progress in patient medical records and field charts in an accurate and timely manner. Discharge and transfer patients as per established policies and procedures. Coordinate patient care with appropriate services. Identifies and acts appropriately in code situations as per established protocols. Maintain ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office (Outlook) and department specific software applications to perform work. Communicate effectively and cooperatively in the workplace. Actively contribute to the achievement of Quality Improvement and Lean Process Improvement activities. Complete all mandatory learning requirements in a timely manner. Maintain current licensure and/or certification as required. Attend and actively participate in all department, team and/or committee meetings. Comply with all Skagit Regional Health, department and location specific policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee. Education Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program. Skagit Valley Hospital is a DNV certified Primary Stroke Center. Required to complete 4 hours of stroke education annually. Experience/Training Minimum six (6) months related experience preferred. License/Certifications Current Washington State Physical Therapy Assistant required or current Washington State Physical Therapy Assistant Interim Permit required with Washington State Physical Therapy Assistant obtained within 6 months. Current American Heart Association (AHA) healthcare BLS certification required.
