A Physician Assistant provides medical care to patients, under the supervision of a physician or surgeon. Works in all areas and specialties of medicine, and is licensed to practice medicine but has less formal certification than a physician. Performs duties delegated by a physician such as recording patient medical histories, ordering diagnostic tests, or giving immunizations. May serve as the primary healthcare provider, in consultation with a part-time physician, in communities with limited health care resources.

Provides professional care to patients presenting with a broad variety of medical or surgical complaints which range from non-urgent to emergent in nature within the scope of a physician's assistant. Qualifications Education / Licensure /
Certification:
  • Must have a current license in the State of Alabama, current
ACLS & PALS
provider.
  • Graduate of an approved program for Physician's Assistant.
  • Possesses skills needed for functioning effectively as an emergency department physician's assistant.
  • Maintain collaboration requirements per hospital bylaws and Alabama Board of Nursing.
