About the Opportunity Kern County Neurological Medical Group (KCNMG) is seeking a compassionate and motivated Physician Assistant to join our established, physician-led outpatient neurology practice in Bakersfield, California. Founded in 1977, KCNMG has served patients throughout Kern County for nearly five decades. We are expanding our clinical team to improve access to high-quality neurological care and are looking for a provider who values thoughtful medicine, teamwork, and long-term professional growth. We welcome experienced physician assistants as well as strong candidates who are newer to neurology and eager to build specialty expertise. The role will focus on outpatient evaluation, treatment, and longitudinal management as part of a physician-led care team. Opportunity Highlights Established, physician-led outpatient neurology practice with strong community demand Collaborative care model with neurologists, advanced practice providers, and experienced clinical support staff Opportunity to develop specialized expertise in headache, epilepsy, movement disorders, neuromuscular conditions, cognitive disorders, and other areas of neurology Structured orientation and ongoing physician support Predictable outpatient schedule with no required hospital call Leadership and professional-growth opportunities within a growing independent practice Relocation assistance and sign-on bonus may be available Key Responsibilities Evaluate new and established patients with a broad range of neurological conditions Obtain comprehensive histories, perform neurological examinations, and develop differential diagnoses Order and review appropriate laboratory tests, imaging, and diagnostic studies Develop and manage individualized, evidence-based treatment plans within the provider's scope of practice Provide follow-up care, medication management, patient education, and care coordination Identify changes in condition and consult or escalate to the supervising or collaborating neurologist when appropriate Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, clinical staff, referring providers, and community partners Complete timely, accurate, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record Support quality-improvement, patient-experience, and practice-development initiatives The Physician Assistant will practice within applicable California law, delegated scope, supervising-physician arrangements, organizational policies, and written practice agreements. Required Qualifications Graduate of an ARC-PA-accredited physician assistant program Current NCCPA certification Current or eligible California Physician Assistant license Current or eligible DEA registration, as required for assigned duties Current BLS certification Strong clinical judgment and commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care Effective communication, documentation, and collaboration skills Preferred Qualifications Neurology, primary care, internal medicine, geriatrics, or another relevant clinical background Experience managing headache, seizure disorders, neuropathy, Parkinson's disease, dementia, multiple sclerosis, or other neurological conditions Experience with outpatient medication management and prior authorizations Interest in developing advanced neurology knowledge through mentorship and continuing education Compensation and Benefits Starting base salary: $100,000-$135,000 annually Placement within the range will be based on relevant experience, neurology background, qualifications, and anticipated scope of practice.
