Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Physician Assistant specialized in Orthopedic care to join our dynamic healthcare team at our new location in Irvine but potentially sometimes go to Anaheim. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy, orthopedic procedures, and patient management within a fast-paced clinical environment. This role offers an opportunity to deliver exceptional patient care by performing assessments, assisting in surgical procedures, and managing a wide range of orthopedic conditions. The Physician Assistant will work closely with orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal recovery outcomes and patient satisfaction. Duties Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including medical histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic assessments related to musculoskeletal disorders. Assist orthopedic surgeons during surgical procedures, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and proper instrumentation handling. Administer injections such as corticosteroids and Botulinum toxin treatments for muscle spasticity or pain management. Manage acute pain cases through appropriate interventions, including medication administration and non-pharmacologic strategies. Perform suturing, wound care, and post-operative follow-up to promote healing and prevent complications. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner for documentation, data collection, and medical records management. Coordinate triage and urgent care services for orthopedic injuries in outpatient or hospital settings, including Level I and Level II trauma centers. Provide education on injury prevention, rehabilitation exercises, and post-treatment care plans to patients and their families. Participate in clinical research studies or clinical trials related to orthopedic treatments or pain management to support evidence-based practices. Assist with hospital-based procedures such as ventilator management in critical care units or neonatal ventilator support when needed. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while managing sensitive patient information across various EMR systems like eClinicalWorks or Cerner. Experience Prior experience working in hospital environments with exposure to inpatient, outpatient, or emergency room settings is required. Demonstrated proficiency in orthopedic procedures including suturing, injection administration, and diagnostic evaluation techniques. Critical care experience such as ICU or neonatal ventilator management is highly desirable. Familiarity with CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), and medical billing practices essential for accurate documentation. Experience with telehealth platforms to provide remote consultation services is preferred. Knowledge of musculoskeletal physiology, anatomy, and diagnostic evaluation methods necessary for effective patient assessment. Background working within Level I or Level II trauma centers enhances readiness for complex cases involving trauma or acute injuries. Strong understanding of infectious disease care protocols relevant to post-operative or wound management situations. Experience conducting clinical research or participating in clinical trials related to orthopedics or pain management is advantageous. Proven ability to manage medical records accurately while adhering to NCQA standards for quality assurance and patient safety standards.
