A Physician Assistant provides medical care to patients, under the supervision of a physician or surgeon. Works in all areas and specialties of medicine, and is licensed to practice medicine but has less formal certification than a physician. Performs duties delegated by a physician such as recording patient medical histories, ordering diagnostic tests, or giving immunizations. May serve as the primary healthcare provider, in consultation with a part-time physician, in communities with limited health care resources.

Job Description
PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Examine patients to obtain information about their physical condition. 2. Interpret diagnostic test results for deviations from normal. 3. Make tentative diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of patients. 4. Obtain, compile, and record patient medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination. 5. Administer or order diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests. 6. Prescribe therapy or medication with provider approval. 7. Perform therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and infection management. 8. Instruct and counsel patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance. 9. Provide physician with assistance during surgery or complicated medical procedures. 10. Supervise and coordinate activities of medical assistants. 11. Observe patients and update charts, ordering medications and therapy, and report back to the provider. 12. Order medical and laboratory supplies and equipment with provider approval.QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must give full attention to what other people are saying, take time to understand the points being made, ask questions as appropriate. 2. Must understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making. 3. Must be able to talk to others to convey information effectively. 4. Must be able to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents. 5. Must be able to communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the patients and provider. 6. Must be able to manage one's own time and the time of others. 7. Must be able to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and choose the most appropriate one. 8. Must be able to use scientific rules and methods to solve problems.Job Type:
