Job Description

Physician Assistant

  • Neurology We are a small, established neurology practice with two locations in Santa Monica and Agoura Hills, California.

Our practice provides personalized care for patients with a broad range of neurological conditions, with particular focus on dementia and Alzheimer's disease, memory disorders, Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders, normal pressure hydrocephalus, migraine/headache disorders, and treatment-resistant depression. We are also actively involved in ongoing clinical research projects, providing an excellent opportunity for a Physician Assistant who is interested in both clinical neurology and research. We are seeking a compassionate, motivated Physician Assistant to join our team and work closely with our neurologist and other clinical providers. The position is primarily outpatient and includes direct patient care, diagnostic testing, care coordination, and opportunities to participate in clinical research. Responsibilities

  • Obtain comprehensive medical histories and perform neurological and physical examinations.
  • Evaluate new and established patients and develop treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising physician.
  • Diagnose and manage neurological conditions within the PA's scope of practice.
  • Prescribe medications and treatments as appropriate.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and ongoing care.
  • Coordinate diagnostic testing, imaging, laboratory studies, specialist consultations, and follow-up care.
  • Perform or assist with neurological diagnostic testing, including EMG, nerve conduction studies (NCV/NCS), TCD, and other in-office neurological testing, depending on training and experience.
  • Review test results and communicate appropriate follow-up recommendations to patients.
  • Respond to patient questions and clinical messages and consult with the physician when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Review records and assist with triaging new patients prior to scheduling.
  • Coordinate care with outside physicians, hospitals, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in clinical research projects, including patient screening, data collection, documentation, and coordination of research protocols.
  • Help develop patient and family educational materials and support programs.
  • Work collaboratively with our physicians, PAs, research staff, and administrative team to provide high-quality, individualized patient care. Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current California Physician Assistant license or eligibility to obtain California licensure.
  • Current NCCPA certification.
  • Approximately 2+ years of clinical experience preferred, although we are open to an exceptional candidate with less experience.
  • Neurology experience is highly desirable but not required.
  • Strong clinical judgment and interest in learning neurological conditions and diagnostic procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Compassionate and comfortable working with patients and families dealing with complex and chronic neurological conditions.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the supervising neurologist and clinical team.

What We Offer This is an excellent opportunity for a PA who wants to develop significant hands-on experience in neurology in a smaller practice environment. The position offers exposure to complex neurological cases, specialized diagnostic testing, innovative treatments, and ongoing clinical research. Our practice values long-term relationships with our patients and our team, and we are looking for someone who is interested in becoming an important part of the practice rather than simply filling a position.
