The Shipley Cardiothoracic Surgery Institute is growing! We are expanding our Cardiothoracic Surgery service by building a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) team focused on comprehensive inpatient progressive care and outpatient postoperative management. Each APP will partner directly with a Cardiothoracic Surgeon to provide continuity of care throughout the patient's surgical journey, from hospitalization through recovery in the outpatient setting. In this position, you may focus on cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, or both, while collaborating across the team to support patient care as needed. This position does not include operating room or ICU responsibilities, allowing APPs to develop expertise in postoperative management, care coordination, and longitudinal surgical follow-up. New APP service will support 6 full-time cardiac and 2 full-time thoracic surgeons across two closely-situated hospitals (7 miles apart). Provide comprehensive inpatient postoperative management for cardiothoracic surgery patients on the progressive care unit. Evaluate and manage patients during routine postoperative clinic visits. Evaluate inpatient consultations from emergency medicine, cardiology, hospital medicine, and other specialties, and coordinate care with their cardiothoracic surgeon. Serve as the primary clinical liaison between inpatient and outpatient postoperative cares as an extension of the surgeons practice Four 10-hour shifts per week with morning rounds beginning at 06:30AM. APP coverage will extend shifts into weekend coverage as the team grows (1 weekend per month) APPs work collaboratively to provide cross-coverage allowing for vacation, CME, and other scheduled time off Planned future expansion to provide overnight hospital call when adequately staffed. These will include calls from home only. No in-house overnight required. No ICUor operating room responsibilities Robust opportunities forclinician growth, leadership development, and education. Qualifications :
Graduate of an accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program. Current Florida NP or PA license (or eligible). BLS, ACLS, and DEA certification required. Preferred 2+ of experience as an APP in cardiothoracic surgery, surgery, cardiology, pulmonary medicine, oncology, critical care, hospital medicine, or a related specialty. New graduates and APPs with
