As a Licensed Independent Provider, the Physician Assistant practices autonomously and in coordinion with health care professionals and other individuals. The incumbent provides a wide range of health care services, including the diagnosis and management of acute, chronic, and complex health problems; health promotion; disease prevention; health educion; and counseling to individuals, families, groups and communities. Must be an excellent communicor and team player who is adaptable to the needs of a growing medical center. The Physician Assistant provides quality pient care in collaborion with other health care professionals. The incumbent will perform specific duties within his/her approved scope of practice. Other duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Providing care for Veteran pients, sometimes under the review and/or co-signure of a physician. Performing overall assessment of pients' conditions through history taking, record reviews, physical examinions, etc. Diagnosing and developing individualized trement plan in various clinical settings. Writing orders for diagnostic testing including, but not limited to laborory, X-rays, imaging studies/EKGs, ventilor management, blood and urine tests and any other special testing and studies whenever indiced. Prescribing medicions and providing educion and counseling to Veterans and their families regarding medical condition, prescribed trements and drugs, diagnostic options, review of trement plans, discussions of pient goals, etc. Developing meaningful goals to assist pients and their families in taining the optimum level of physical, physiological, sociological, and psychological balance within the limitions imposed by their illnesses. Contributing to the achievement of quality care standards, and actively participes in pient safety initiives. Establishing professional working relionship with clinical service providers within the medical center, Outpient Clinics (OPCs), and the Community Base Outpient Clinics (CBOCs). Work Schedule:
Various work schedules available. Some positions may require roting call coverage, weekdays, nights, weekends and/or holidays. The supervisor will determine the actual work schedule (FT, PT, Intermittent and the specific work shift) upon selection based on the needs of the organizion.

Basic Requirements:
United Stes Citizenship:
Must be a US Citizen.
Educion:
Must be a gradue of a training program which is accredited by the Accredition Review Commission on Educion of PA (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor organizions & must also meet one of the following: (1) Master's degree in any discipline; or (2) Bachelor's degree in any discipline with one year of experience as a Physician Assistant.
Certificion:
Successfully passed the PA Nional Certifying Exam (PANCE) (or is in the process of taking the exam).
License:
Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice in a Ste, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United Stes or in the District of Columbia. PAs must maintain current registrion in the Ste of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active and current licensure in th Ste.
English Language Proficiency:
In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7403(f), no person shall serve in direct pient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
Grade Requirements:
In addition to the basic qualificion requirements, the grade level of a PA is based on a combinion of training and experience. Physician Assistant-I (PA-I): Experience and Educion. None beyond the basic requirements. Demonstred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. PAs this grade are expected to present the following minimum skill set: Ability to utilize the principles of PA practice in the care of assigned pients to provide approprie care. Ability to perform pient history and physical. Ability to formule a plan and provide trement to the pient. Ability to provide pient care th is abreast of changing concepts and advancements in the profession. Physician Assistant-II (PA-II): Experience and Educion. PAs this grade is the intermedie grade level and has had progressively increasing responsibility and experiences as indiced in the KSAs listed below. Individuals will have demonstred the ability to analyze and solve more complex medical problems than the entry level grade and can utilize their training in the successful practice of pient care and participe in team problem solving. Individuals demonstre the KSAs of PA-II intermedie level by: Two years of successful practice as a PA.

PA-II:
Skills to analyze and solve complex medical problems. Ability to function autonomously and make independent medical decisions. Skill to incorpore training and experience into the successful practice of pient care including telehealth medical care. Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary environment for improvement of services for pient care. Ability to practice with colleagues and peers collaborively. Physician Assistant-III (PA-III): Experience and Educion. PAs this grade are the full performance level and lead and organize pient care independently, practice within multi-disciplinary teams, and coordine all aspects of pient care across the health care system. They utilize advanced clinical knowledge and judgment in decision-making and evaluing outcomes. They function as experts in clinical practice and/or in areas reled to the assigned roles and responsibilities, may serve as mentors for transitioning PAs, and may provide training for health care students. Individuals can demonstre the KSAs for the full performance level by: Three years of successful practice as a PA.

Skill to consistently demonstre an eleved level of expertise and autonomy in diagnosing and treing seriously ill, multi-symptomic pients through facility Focused Professional Practice Evaluion (FPPE) and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluion (OPPE). Ability to present clinical findings and recommendions to approprie management officials. Ability to clinically facilite the delivery of pient care in collaborion with health professionals, health managers, and other health care personnel. Ability to implement and initie clinical changes to established trement protocols based upon new medical literure research findings to enhance pient delivery care for improved pient outcomes.

Physical Requirements:
Must pass a pre-employment physical examinion as required by VA Handbook 5019. This examinion is administered by VA Occupional Health. This position requires modere lifting up to 44 lbs., carrying objects up to 15 lbs., frequent reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, hands and legs, use of cranes and motor vehicles, walking & standing up to 8 hours, bending and climbing and able to hear whisper. The incumbent must be physically, emotionally and mentally stable in order to efficiently perform the essential functions of this position without hazard to themselves or others.
