GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The PA will provide advanced clinical and perioperative care for athletes and physically active patients. Diagnose and manage acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries in clinic, assist in the operating room, perform procedures, and develop rehabilitation plans.
Essential Job Functions:
Maintain an independent schedule and evaluate patients independently as well as under the direction of the supervising physician. Assist physician in examining and diagnosing musculoskeletal and sports-related conditions. Assist in surgery and collaborate with the physician and surgical team to provide support during the procedure. Order and interpret test results and recommend treatment of patients. Administer injections as needed when indicated. Provide postoperative patient care. Write prescriptions and medical orders. Maintain detailed and accurate medical records of patients' assessments, surgical procedures, and post-operative care. Participate in Division research and educational activities. Interact and work with orthopedic surgery residents and division fellows. Additional duties as assigned to meet office needs.
Requirements:
Must have an active MA license or be eligible for a license as a PA in MA. 2 years+ experience as an orthopedic PA or a new PA graduate with orthopedic experience. Interpersonal skills including excellent communication skills to deal effectively with staff, patients, and physicians in a knowledgeable, professional, and courteous manner. Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient records. Must be able to travel to all sites if/when necessary.
