A Physician Assistant provides medical care to patients, under the supervision of a physician or surgeon. Works in all areas and specialties of medicine, and is licensed to practice medicine but has less formal certification than a physician. Performs duties delegated by a physician such as recording patient medical histories, ordering diagnostic tests, or giving immunizations. May serve as the primary healthcare provider, in consultation with a part-time physician, in communities with limited health care resources.

Job Description

The Physician Assistant (PA) functions as an independent healthcare provider who works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team, including otolaryngologists, allergists, audiologists and plastic and reconstructive surgeons. The PA is responsible for providing comprehensive care to both well and ill patients in an outpatient setting. Position Responsibilities
  • Maintain active state licensure and memberships with professional organizations
  • Complete required continuing medical education hours, requirements for DEA, etc.
  • Maintain professional liability insurance
  • Maintain clean work environment by using Universal Precautions
  • Follow all standards set forth by HIPAA and Compliance Manual
  • Maintains accurate, complete, concise and timely documentation in the electronic medical record. Minimum Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies or equivalent degree from an accredited program required.
  • Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Maryland required.
  • National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification required.
  • Current DEA registration and CDS license or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Current BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of physician assistant experience preferred; ENT/Otolaryngology experience preferred.
  • Ability to independently assess, diagnose, and manage patients within scope of practice.
  • Proficient with electronic medical records and clinical documentation.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and patient education skills.
Total Rewards The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of SCN'S salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
