Job Description

MaineHealth Surgical Care is seeking a full-time surgeon to join the Division of Acute Care Surgery at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. Maine Medical Center, Maine's only ACS verified level 1 trauma center, admits 4,000+ trauma patients, 600+ Critical Care patients, and 2,500 emergency general surgery patients each year. The position primarily encompasses all aspects of Acute Care Surgery (trauma, emergency general surgery and surgical critical care). The ACS team offers trauma care, surgical care for patients with critical illness, burn and complex wound management, and emergency general surgery. Research programs in translational and clinical outcomes are in place and the candidate would be expected to participate in these efforts.
Qualifications:
  • MD/DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Fellowship-trained in Trauma/Acute Care Surgery and Surgical Critical Care (2-year fellowship preferred).
  • Board Certification/Board Eligible in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.
  • Demonstrable academic interest in pursuing research, education, and/or administrative activities related to Acute Care Surgery.
