In this role, you will provide advanced perioperative nursing care, including pre-op assessment, intraoperative first assist, and post-op evaluation. Working closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and multidisciplinary staff, you will support complex procedures, ensure safety, maintain sterile technique, and promote optimal outcomes. Responsibilities Provide first-assist functions during surgical procedures under surgeon direction Conduct preoperative assessments and contribute to care planning Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure proper use of instruments and supplies Monitor patient status intraoperatively and communicate changes promptly Support postoperative evaluation, education, and discharge planning Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative teams for safe care Document care accurately in the electronic medical record Follow hospital policies, regulatory standards, and patient safety protocols Participate in quality improvement and clinical practice initiatives Precept and mentor nurses new to the perioperative environment Required Skills Perioperative nursing Surgical first assist techniques Sterile technique and infection control Intraoperative patient monitoring Electronic medical records (EMR) documentation Hemostasis and tissue handling Suturing and wound closure Patient assessment and clinical decision-making Interdisciplinary team collaboration Patient and family education
