Job Description

Weekend and/ or holiday rotation may be required. This is a 5 day per week clinic position. The Orthopedic Clinic Technician provides direct and indirect patient care support within a fast-paced orthopedic clinic setting. This role assists physicians with surgical and non-surgical orthopedic procedures, including cast applications and removals, fracture care, dressing changes, brace fittings, and patient education. The Technician supports both inpatient and outpatient orthopedic care by applying and monitoring mobilization and immobilization devices such as slings, braces, traction equipment, and continuous passive motion machines. This position also plays an active role in surgery and procedure scheduling, ensuring all required testing, authorizations, and resources are coordinated prior to procedures. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong communication skills, attention to detail, compassion, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented clinical environment. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED required; athletic training or related healthcare education preferred. Previous experience in a hospital, orthopedic, sports medicine, or physician office setting is preferred. BLS certification is required, with orthopedic certification required within six months of hire. Weekend and holiday rotation may occasionally be required.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
The Technician should demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of medical terminology and human anatomy and physiology. Must have excellent Gross and Fine motor skills. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Prior experience in hospital, athletic training sports medicine or physician office setting is preferred.
EDUCATION
High School Graduate or GED. Degree in Athletic Training preferred. Maintains knowledge, skills, and abilities through ongoing education. Completes all mandatory review/ education as required and assigned.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY
BLS required. Must obtain Certified Medical Assistant certificate within 6 months of hire.

Possesses interpersonal/communication skills necessary for effective, non-judgmental, and empathetic patient care and customer relations. Open to feedback, and open to a changing environment, which requires flexibility in scheduling and department assignments.
